Burnley have started their Championship campaign with a 2-1 win over newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.

Aaron Lennon gave Burnley the lead after 15 minutes, tapping into an empty net after a mistake from Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Forest levelled three minutes later through a Brennan Johnson penalty after Josh Brownhill had been penalised for a foul on Sam Surridge.

Jay Rodriguez put Burnley back in front before half-time with a powerful finish from just inside the box.

Forest pushed for an equaliser in the second half but Burnley held on to secure all three points.
